Get enough rest and sleep
If you’re driving long distance, make it a point to use your stops to stretch, walk around and rest. Keep yourself fit and healthy. Make sure to get proper rest in-between driving to avoid falling asleep while driving. This way, you can stay alert and aware of your surroundings.
Observe traffic rules
If you’ve been driving for a while, it’s easy to take traffic rules for granted. However, this is the common reason for vehicular accidents involving trucks. Distracted driving, overtaking, over speeding, driving under the influence, and the like accounts to several injuries and fatalities. Make it a point to observe traffic rules so that you and other’s lives won’t be put in danger. Practice defensive driving and of course, always buckle up.
Scout your delivery spots
Many drivers become accustomed to delivery spots that they take scouting the area for granted. This is primarily a must-do if you are delivering to a new customer. Make sure your truck can easily maneuver through the facility and to take note of the obstacles present.
